Trouble in Insancity

Man fight

I just thought I might try and click through a few sentences to see how I felt about this situation in the Right-Winger extreme "Big Party" tent.

Okay you got a guy who is a afraid that Islam is going to come and remind him of the 10 Commandments, then possibly take his bacon cheeseburger. In this corner Frank Gaffney.

In the other corner you got a diminutive guy with a Sesame Street voice and a name to match who advocates treason in wanting to reduce the Federal Government, "I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub." In this corner Grover Norquist.

Summary of Think Progress link:

Setting - The Awakening 2011 Conference in Lynchburg, Va.

Gaffney thinks that Norquist is an agent for the Muslim Brotherhood to help them infiltrate the conservative movement. Norquist thinks that you should have religious freedom in America.

Conclusion - For the reality-based community WINNER - NORQUIST.
Unfortunate Reality - For the irrational fear-based community WINNER - GAFFNEY.

Then again, if the right Conservatives said that purple ponies fly into their shoe boxes and bless their soles before every religious ceremony, the sales of My Little Pony necklaces would go through the roof tomorrow. Imagine the look on torture boy's face up there on the cross with that glazed pot metal pony banging into his gold electroplated shins. Why how thou forsaken me?

I think that Gaffney is a prime example of how the mind of Islamic extremists work. I believe that in Afghanistan and Pakistan and pockets of the Middle East the same kind of fear of us is spread much in the same way that Gaffney uses here in the US. His audience act like catfish. They swallow the whole thing hook line and sinker. Religious extremists and their followers all view opposing viewpoints as blasphemous.

How small a person must be that he fears words and religions different from his own? How lacking in faith of your fellow American must you be that your own words and deeds will fail all persuasion with the introduction of a new idea?

What I find interesting is that the treasonous Norquist asks the GOP to "marginalize" Islamophobia in the party. These voices have no following anywhere else in main stream political parties. The door that was opened to allow Norquist and his extremism in was left open. While President Clinton and other "Democrats" of his ilk adopted ill-advised right-wing policies in an attempt to incorporate the middle, Republicans desperately looked to the right in the remnants of the militia movement of the mid nineties now loosely reformed as the Tea Party.

The fascist-leaning authoritarian Right that flowed through the open door were apparent at Tea Party rallies holding racists signs opposing our first African American President. When they came for the black guy you did not speak. When they came for the liberal you did not speak. When they came for your Muslim wife, it was too damn late.

I'm sorry Mr. Norquist, but a little involvement in the GOP Proud is not enough to wash off the stain of corrupted conservative principles that flow through the veins of the Republican Party today. The words and deeds of those pointing a finger at you are a direct result "ends justifies the means" strategies that you Jack Abramoff, Ralph Reed, Karl Rove, Tom Delay, Michael Scanlon, and Oliver North put into action. You sir have so corrupted the values of American politics such that Party comes before country, money before justice, fiction before science, power before freedom, bombs before books, and profit before people. You have moved so far toward the dark side that even Nixon himself would have to ask you from his seat on the House Un-American Activities Committee, "Why do you hate America so much?"
